MVSHRM COMMITTEE GOALS

MEMBERSHIP:

    Focus on increasing chapter and national memberships (20% goal for chapter and 10% goal for national)
    Update orientation packages for new members
    Contact inactive members and seek to reactivate

PROGRAMS:


    Incorporate "ice breakers" at each meeting
    Create programs that are "interactive" with members
     

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

      Enlist members to be media contacts
       Revive newsletter - publication quarterly or biannually

FUNDRAISING:

    Fundraising goal of $5,000
    Increase awareness and visibility of MVSHRM to general community
    Develop an "on call" network of Subject Matter Experts

LEGISLATIVE:

    Develop questionnaires to gauge membership interest in upcoming legislation
    Grass Roots Letter information
    Coordinate chapter representation for Washington and Albany Days

COLLEGE RELATIONS:

    Recruit students to attend monthly meetings
    Recruit students to attend the Philadelphia conference
    Work to develop student HR internships

MVSHRM Executive Committee Descriptions 

The executive committee of MVSHRM consists of five officers:  President, President Elect,  Vice President - Membership, Vice President - Programs, Treasurer.

All executive members assist with the leadership and direction of the entire organization and it's sub committees.  All executive members should attend quarterly board meetings, monthly executive meetings and business meetings as scheduled.  In addition, executive members are expected to follow the SHRM's Code of Ethics in order to promote and maintain the highest standards among its members. 

PRESIDENT:

    Provides leadership and decision making in coordination with the executive committee for the entire organization
    Attends and conducts all quarterly board, monthly executive and general business meetings.
    Acts as a liaison between the local chapter and the national SHRM organization including submission of the annual Chapter Activity Plan, promoting SHRM membership and other SHRM services and/or activities
    Serves as a voting member of the State Council and attends the quarterly State Council meetings
    Attends SHRM Leadership conference in November or appoints the President Elect, encouraged to attend both the National and State Conference
    Produces a monthly President's letter for distribution to the membership
    Must be a National SHRM member

 PRESIDENT ELECT:

    Fulfills all presidential responsibilities in absence of the President
    Responsible for completing the chapter activity plan.

 VICE PRESIDENT - Membership:

    Acts as the Membership Chairperson responsible for:
    Maintenance of the membership list and distribution to members as needed
    Solicits local and national memberships
    Audits membership list quarterly to meet 30% SHRM requirement and to contact members at-large or mis-designated chapter members
    Conducts annual renewal campaign including sending renewals and final notice invoices to ensure timely update of the membership by January 1
    Coordinates new member orientations during business meetings and creates new member packages

    VICE PRESIDENT - Programs

    • Responsibilities:

      ·        Direct and support the activities of members of the Program Committee.  Coordinate their activities to support the Chapter's mission.  Recruit members to serve on this committee.
      ·        
      Solicit and engage appropriate speakers for monthly Chapter meetings ensuring that any supplies/equipment needed is available.
      ·        Provide information regarding programs to members, potential members, and others, through the Chapter website.
      ·        
      Make arrangements with local facilities for monthly meetings.
      ·        Keep abreast of developments in the human resources field and the interests of the Chapter members in order to provide timely programs.
      ·        
      Responsible for the application of SPHR/PHR recertification credits from HRCI.
      ·        Attend all monthly Chapter and Board of Directors meetings.

     

           TREASURER:
      

      Maintains all financial records for the organization including bank statements, receipts, tax documents etc.
      Balances bank accounts monthly, make deposits as needed and prepares monthly financial statement for membership
      Attends all functions of the organization to collect dues, supply receipts, name tags, and appropriate change for attendees
      Prepares federal filing annually if required
      Accounts Payable including providing non-exempt certificates to vendors as needed
      Prepares annual forecast budget vs prior year actual cash flow
      Must be trustworthy and willing to do cash handling duties
